Boro's FA Cup results 1887 - 2007

The Football Association Challenge Cup was first introduced in 1871-72, and the Wanderers beat Royal Engineers 1-0 in the Final at Kennington Oval. In later years it was won by Old Etonians, Oxford University, Clapham Rovers and Old Carthusians. Not until 1884 was it won by a name still familiar today - Blackburn Rovers. Boro had been founded in 1879, and first competed in the FA Cup in 1887-88. Two seasons later they were the opposition for the first ever FA Cup match played by newly-founded Sheffield United.
