I just wanted to say how very sad I was to read of your plight. I'm sure that all connected to the club must be devastated by the news today and I just wanted to let you know that genuine football fans will be thinking of you all in the coming days / weeks. I hope that once the dust settles the great name of Scarborough Football Club will rise again and start its journey back into the football league - where it belongs. Best of luck to you all Jeff the Spur I've just heard the very sad news about Scarborough - I know it's been on the cards, but I was hoping there would be a last ditch rescue package put together. I've visited Scarborough many times for football, cricket and holidays and built up an affinity for the town. Very best wishes for the future from me and everyone at Hinckley United. Andy. Tragic times for all concerned with your club, there will be many challenges ahead for you the loyal supporters of the seadogs but I'm sure you all have a love and passion for your team and it will not let it just slip away into history. It's always worth fighting and I hope you do carry on when you all have time to take stock of this heartbreaking decision. Stay strong and keep on being the kind of real supporters that the giants could only dream of having behind them. Best wishes Iain (Motherwell FC supporter) Very sad to hear today's news. Gutted for you. Oxford Utd fan I was so sad to hear about the winding up of your club. I sincerely hope a new club is formed in the very near future. Best wishes Andrew, Exeter City fan. Hi. Just heard the News and I am sad to see the demise of Scarborough although i personally never got to visit the ground this should not happen to anyone's club and i wish you all the best and hope you find a way to keep going in and build back up from there Andy, Luton Town Fan Hi guys, You certainly don't know me as I'm just a soccer fan in the U.S. but I heard the news about your club ceasing operations and I know how sad you must be. Just wanted to write this message to tell you that the football world mourns for you. I know how you must feel. Sorry to hear about your club. I do hope you find a way back. I am a supporter of Southport fc and thought we had problems. Good luck in future. Ken. So Sorry about the news - keep the faith - as a Leeds Fan know how you feel - we will both be back bigger and stronger - remember going to watch boro v palace - 1975 - Malcolm Allisons team - beat you - and us in the next round in the fa cup To all SFC fans, I'm totally gutted to hear about the news. I don't know all the details behind it but I hope something can be achieved so that your club will soon once again be up and running. I urge you not to let the fat cats ruin our game. Fight them till the death. Be lucky Ronnie Tottenham fan A crushing sense of emptiness, or is there any sort of relief, inasmuch as the long period of uncertainty is over? It's happened to lesser clubs than Scarborough and many of them have bounced back. It seems like there's a core of devoted and determined Scarborough supporters who will hopefully get things off the ground again. I wish you well. Dave Hello, I'm really sorry for what has happened to your club. It doesn't seem 5 minutes since you were beating us with the help of Andy Ritchie's goals. I'm a Wigan Athletic fan, and I can tell you, a lot of us feel genuine sadness at what has happened. I really hope that something can be done, such as a new club being started from scratch, i.e. AFC Scarborough, or some such club. I wish you all the very best, and hope that it happens. Once again, very sorry for what has happened. Best Wishes David Garswood W.A.F.C. I have just found out that your football club has been wound up. I am a Barrow AFC fan,and as you know,we came within a whisker a few short years ago. I couldn't let today go by without expressing my sympathies to all those good people involved at the your club. They have tried all they could, but the damage was done by others that went before, I think I am right in saying. When you think of all the crooked things B****n have got up to over the years,it just isn't fair. I think I speak for ALL genuine (not premiership) football fans, and wish you all good luck for whatever you do and wherever you go in the future. Best wishes Graham My sincerest apologies on the Demise of your club. It is unfortunate that in today's world pride and passion are not enough to keep the club afloat and I hope that in time a pheonix will rise from the flames. Graeme Lawrence My name is Johnnie Savile and I am a Londoner. But apart from being an Arsenal fan, I have been in love with the town of Scarborough since I was 5. I have followed 'The Boro' for a very long time now and I can only say how sorry I am for you hard working people who have done so much to save this great club. I will always miss my trips to see the boys play in London. The last time I saw them was the last win at Dagenham. Thank you for so much joy and of course heartache. Who says it is only a game? Kindest regards andthanks, Johnnie Savile, very loyal fan forever. Just heard the news,Sorry that you have gone out of football, wish you all the best and hopefully you can do an Aldershot!. Graham Fusco (HALIFAX TOWN FC SUPPORTER) So sorry to hear the sad news. Come back soon. Best wishes. ANDY VEASEY it was with heavy heart and sorrow that i heard of the end of scarborough football club. i only hope that those responsible for the sea dogs downfall will live to regret this. The town will lose all its soccer traditions, the town will never be the same on a saturday afternoon being able to go to the game and all the excitement of seeing the sea dogs win, i only hope out of all of this that the phoenix can rise out of the ashes, goodluck for the future bring the seadogs back
I may be an avid Huddersfield Town supporter, but even so the loss of another Yorkshire side and a damn nice place too is very sad. I'd like to add my name to the list of those sending my sympathies to the club, players, fans, and all those who have worked behind the scenes at Scarborough Football Club to try and avoid this outcome. May you all have a little luck soon and as they say, the phoenix from the ashes, etc. Andy K i am very sorry to hear what has happened i am a fan of a london club called Leyton Orient so i know about clubs from the lower league. I know that if you were a premiership or Championship club they would never have wound you up i am really sorry and hope the people of scarborough can one day have a football team again. Daniel Gold i have just found out on yorkshire coast radio website that the club has been wound up you was a good team and hope to see more football and a new ground soon r.i.p. NO BATTLE NO VICTORY the SEADOGS RULE. I will still support boro as i always have done since being a child and worked for you as a steward it will sadly missed. Many thanks and good luck C.Davis My son and I were at the McCain Stadium on that fateful day in May 1999 against Peterborough. I still wear my old "Seadogs" shirt with pride here in Taranaki, New Zealand. To all of you connected with Scarborough FC, thank you for 128 years of amazing history. May Scarborough not be without top class football for long! Philip New Plymouth. I was very sad to hear the news about you going out of business and really do hope that you are successful in returning to the game, in whatever form. I am a lifelong Middlesbrough fan and went through the same thing back in 1986. It seemed then that we were going to go out of existence but something came up that saved us and I hope the same thing happens to you. Best Wishes Paul Watson Middlesbrough FC Season Ticket Holder Dear sir,I am very sad at the demise of your football club,I would like to wish every one there all the best for the future and hope that a new club will soon rise from the ashes . As a Lincoln City fan I was relieved when we escaped the same fate by 28 minutes in 2002,I can not begin to imagine how you all feel,My deepest commiserations, Andy South Just a quick word from a non-football fan: I saw on TV the sad news about the winding-up of your little club and I'm appalled that while the big clubs get bigger and richer, small ones go to the wall. Good luck to all at Scarborough and I hope you can bounce back. Simon Mellor Huddersfield My friends and I, long time supporters of Wrexham Football Club would like to pass on our heartfelt condolences to the supporters of Scarborough FC. I personally remember some good, tough matches against you, and as I recall, you usually got the upper hand!!. It is so hard for us smaller clubs these days. Believe me, I know as we have just been through the mill ourselves, and we are not really out of the woods yet! Keep the faith. Start again. Fight for the club you love and keep believing the dream. It would be great to have you visit us back at the Racecourse some day. Good luck from all your friends here in North Wales, Ray Clarke
From North of the Border, Hamilton Accies fan to be precise. Since holidaying in Scarborough for many years with my family and indeed taking in a match against Nuneaton Borough just a few years back I am shocked and devastated at the news. I play fives tonight and its seems appropriate to wear my Scarborough top on this sad day. All the very best for the future. Sad day for all fans. Just writing to say thank you to MR, IS, Mitch and yourselves for all your hard work and to anybody else I may have omitted. Deep down I had a gut feeling that the Council would not support us. Hopefully a club will rise from its ashes. Colin. hi my name is lee smith i play for rutherford afc in gateshead, lobley hill. as soon as i heard the news about scarborough fc i was gutted. no club should go through this. football's about players playing the game that they love and people coming to watch them and enjoy it. i hope scarborough fc can turn things around and become a football club again. am sorry scarborough fc r.i.p. for now. regards lee smith
I am gutted about the demise of the Seadogs, having followed the BORO for the last twenty one years since a young boy on annual summer holidays. I would also add i am disgusted that the council can say that they have done all they could to help when in reality they have destroyed the club,as a exiled supporter i do not know if i will ever visit Scarborough again now that we have no club to follow. Thanks Seadogs Gary (Midland Seadog) Hello, im from Brazil... please remember: NO BATTLE, NO VICTORY! best wishes... breno, sao paulo fc fan Absolutely gutted for you, I hated the way the conference treated the club by relegating the club with a 10 point deduction, that started the rot. They will kill Boston next, while Farnborough has reformed and I'm in hope that Scarborough will reform. Even though I'm a Northampton Town fan I love my football and hate seeing the little clubs being treated like crap. I went to the McCain Stadium in 1991, we lost 2-1! But I found Scarborough to be a nice club with decent fans. I hope you re-form and I'm sure you will, many clubs have done it - the king is dead, long live the king ! All the best, I look forward to seeing a new Scarborough football club rising up from the ashes. Russ. Sorry to hear about your club. I hope something can be done for the fans...128 years is just too much to give up on. I wish you all the best for the future...Good Luck! Kevin McWhirter (Kilmarnock FC fan) i saw you play several years ago against darlington in the fa cup, home and away. back in those days i lived in the north east and followed the quakers. now i live in manchester and support FCUM. i am sorry to hear the news of the death of your club and hope that one day you will be able to rise from the ashes. good luck and best wishes. tony jones, hollingworth
From an Ebbsfleet United supporter (formerly Gravesend & Northfleet) can I offer my deepest sympathy with you the supporters of what was Scarborough FC. I think I know how I would feel like if the boot was the other foot, fortunately it isn't, so my heart goes out to all Scarborough supporters everywhere. I hope that you will in time bounce back and eventually take your place back where you belong in the Conference. very sad to hear that the club has folded. I've only visited once with my team (Lincoln City)and had a very enjoyable day and it will never be forgotton. I do hope that a football club will still be in scarborough as its only right that every city/town has one IAN CALVERT LINCOLN CITY FC FAN hi Scarborough FC supporters, on behalf of all supporters of Shelbourne Football Club we express our regrets over the sad demise of your club. we have gone from the glories of being champions of Ireland just 7 months ago to a club today on the brink 3-4 million in debt, our fault for spending money we didn't have. we are hanging on as we speak despite been relegated but with no secure long term future and our ground already sold, things are still bleak. it is painful to see your club go through so much turmoil but obviously it is impossible for me to comprehend the worst case scenario that you guys are experiencing right now. I wish you all the best of luck in the future. the first era of football in Scarborough may be sadly gone but keep up the fight, believe and look forward to building new era of football in Scarborough! All the best, Alan SFC Dublin
Having just returned from holiday, as an exiled Scarborian, I was desperate to see if my Boro had managed one last survival attempt, but now knowing the outcome it has put a real downer on things. I had hoped the council might have helped that bit more, or a rich business man would step in at the last moment, but having previously been raised in Scarborough for 30 years I should have known better!! At least we can look back to those days of FA Trophy superiority, pipping Barnet to gain automatic promotion, playing Wolves & Bolton in our first year in the league, that thriller when we knocked Coventry out of League Cup & of course our dramatic relegation thanks to Carlisle. Let us not forget that fantastic day against Chelsea. All memories that we can keep & most of them treasure. Very Upset, Ian B. i cant believe scarborough are gone, I'm an accrington stanley fan and when you came to our ground a couple of seasons ago you where really good supporters and i hoped that you would stay up that year, cant believe the council couldnt help they sound useless, hope you can get scarborough back up and running soon and be playing us in the league again soon , good luck in the future yours lee passco Sorry to hear about your club. It's truly a sad day for the town, fans of SFC, and football. RIP SFC. Martin Walker Caledon ON, Canada. I'm very sorry to hear the terrible news that Scarborough FC have gone into liquidation. I lived in Scarborough for 10 years as a boy and remember all the good days at the McCain Stadium when I used to go with my brother and father. I remember the friendlies against Red Star Belgrade, the cup games against Arsenal and unforgettably, Chelsea. I only have a relatively short memory of Scarborough FC but my heart goes out to the many fans that have followed the club throughout the years and invested so much time and money in to the club. I have always supported Leeds United but Scarborough were always the next club I'd check teletext to see how they had done. It is a real shame that this is the end of the club and I blame the local council for their selfish actions by allowing the club to die. Boro forever !! Chris P Guys I know I have been a bit away from Scarborough these last few years in that I have not attend a game since 2002. However I can't believe the club is non-existent. M. Hogarty All the best to everyone. You had a great little club. From Craig in Leeds.
Football's going down the f***ing pan. That a great, historic club like yours can go under is unfortunately a sign of the desperate, greedy times we're in. I sincerely hope the Seadogs rise again. Chris Nottingham Forest supporter My name is Jason Kolodziejski and I live here in Houston, Texas. I found out about Scarborough about 8 years ago when I stumbled on this game called Championship Manager. Ever since then, I've tried to follow Scarborough and I root for you guys every year. I've played with the Seadogs, each year in CM and now FM and try to restore the team to its former glory. When I started playing CM, the Seadogs were in Division 3. I thought they had a pretty cool name and not knowing a lot about English Football, I grabbed them. Well, once I grab a team I stick with them for life. Is it really over forever? That just doesn't seem possible.
I am so sorry to hear about the plight of your club. Having been a regular visitor to Boro from the age of 8 during the summer for our holidays, I craved my Dad to take me to some of the pre season matches. Even got a shirt for my 16th birthday at a fun day organised by the club. It has taken me a while for the news to sink in as I have so much respect for all of the hard working people who tried to keep your club going. I wish you all the very best for the future. Heres hoping that I get to watch footie in Boro again soon. All the Best Martyn (King's Lynn Fan)
Hi there all you seadogs. Just a quick message from all the trinity fans to wish you all the best for the future, really sorry about what has happened to a once great club, and hope you can climb the leagues and get back on the Northolme. Again, best of luck, Goldie, Gainsborough So very very sad to hear. I remember watching your first football league game highlights on TV, and have always looked out for your results, especially in the difficult last couple of years. Everyone goes on about the fairytale Jimmy Glass goal - and it was - but I always think too of the gutted Boro fans that day. Best wishes from across the Irish Sea. Dave, Co Down Can't say how much this hurts. So close to staying in that league and having it snuffed away. I hope someone steps forward to build a club there again. I started following the Seadogs from Scarborough Ontario Canada (because of city name) 5 years ago. I will miss reading and was actually planning a trip over. Still want to do it.
