STFC

Scarborough Football Club no longer exists.  After several years struggling against severe financial problems and lurching from one crisis to another,on 20th June 2007 a High Court Judge finally decided  that the club should be wound up.

One hundred and twenty-eight years of history, gone in an instant.

The club had been founded in 1879 and was one of the oldest clubs in the country.  For much of its history it was a fairly anonymous non-league club in an isolated town on the Yorkshire coast, but just occasionally it hit the headlines through a good FA Cup run and the occasional bout of "giant killing".

In 1987 Scarborough FC became champions of the GM Vauxhall Conference and became the first club in England to gain automatic promotion to the Football League.

In 1999 the club was relegated back to non-league football in dramatic circumstances, the first ever relegation in the club's history - but unfortunately not the last.

In 2006 the club lost its place in the Conference and spent a season in Conference North before being relegated again, this time into the Northern Premier League.  But before the fixtures could even be compiled, fate took a hand and the club was suddenly gone for ever.

Today in Boro History
McStad now

This website was previously run by Scarborough FC Supporters Club, with details of matches, meetings, travel, merchandise and the usual items associated with a football club.  But what now?  We surely cannot allow the memories of Scarborough Football Club to disappear completely.  What if someone wants information about a former player?  What if someone wants to read about Boro's "glory years" in the 1970s when the team played four times at Wembley in the FA Trophy final?

We couldn't just forget.  We couldn't bear it, if the name of Scarborough Football Club disappeared from the internet and from everyone's thoughts.  So that's why this site is here.

We may no longer hear "No Battle, No Victory" and "Up the Boro" echoing from the terraces of  the McCain Stadium.  But let's not allow the name of Scarborough Football Club to be forgotten.

On this site you'll find a database of every player who pulled on a Boro shirt from 1968 to 2007.  We'll try to extend the database in due course.  You'll find results, attendances, club honours, league placings, photographs - just about anything you could wish to know about The Seadogs.

There's even a section about the only surviving part of the club, our excellent youth system which has been integrated with George Pindar Community Sports College where we hope it will thrive with the help and support of Sheffield United FC.

There's a Forum attached to this website where you can reminisce about the "good (or bad) old days" or just have a chat with other Boro fans.  And if you've got a question, either post it on the Forum or contact us through the email facility on the site.

Thanks for looking.  Up the Boro.
